Are electric lorries the way of the future?

According to the Emissions Database published by Boston University, trucks are one of the most significant sources of carbon emissions. 60% of the emissions in the U.S. come from 250 million passenger cars, SUVs and pickup trucks. According to data from the Environment Protection Agency, freight trucks contribute about 23% of the emissions in the U.S.

I think the way forward should be to focus on moving freight volume from lorries to trains, which are substantially more efficient over long distances. Lorries are great for last-mile transport or areas with poor rail access, but the primary focus should be on having fewer of them on the road at all. However, all remaining lorries should absolutely be electrified.
