Storing Energy Without Batteries

“If you want to store a lot of renewable energy, the most cost-efficient way of storing this is thermal energy.” Says Jonas Eklind, CEO of Azelio, Swedish energy start-up.

Azelio from the always forward-thinking country of Scandinavia has come up with a low-cost, zero-emissions solution to the thorny issue surrounding what happens when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing.

They've done this by adapting an old Volvo patented, a thermal energy storage system that will allow people to keep the energy their solar systems have generated throughout the day so they can use it in the evenings.

The Azelio systems use recycled aluminum instead of the critical energy storage component using rare expensive minerals. The recycled aluminum only lasts 62,000 years is much cheaper than lithium and has zero emissions
