N. Ireland exceeds Renewables target ahead of expectations

N. Ireland has hit its target of 40% of power to be generated from renewables before 2020. At one point the figure was 44% with the majority being dominated by wind.

This has been a huge change in just under 15 years, when in 2005 just 3% of electricity came from renewable energy sources.

The country will still have a long way to go to ensure it meets the UK government’s ‘carbon neutral’ target of 2050. Source: https://bbc.in/2jYhvom
